About the club
Neilston Juniors FC were formed on Monday 4 June 1945 when a public meeting was held in the old wooden Clubhouse at Brig O'Lea. Our first league game took place on Saturday 11th August of that year. It was an away match against Riccarton Bluebell and resulted in a 4-4 draw.
In the late forties we had several good results in the Scottish Cup, including victories over Pollok and Clydebank away from home without progressing beyond the 4th round.
Renfrew District Council took over Brig O'Lea and built a new Clubhouse and installed floodlights. In season 1964/65 we had our best ever Scottish Cup Campaign.
In 1967 we left the Western League to join the Central League and in our first season we finished runners-up to Petershill in the "B" Division. In season 1970/71 we were "C" Division Champions.
1995 was our 50th Anniversary year, and in all honestly the Club could have folded, but due to the hard work and determinded efforts of everyone at the Club we have come through.
We won our first major trophy since 1947 by defeating Ballieston 5-0 at Fir Park, Motherwell, on 6th October 1998 to win the Beatons Sectional League Cup.
Season 2002/03 saw Neilston narrowly come close to being crowned the first champions of the newly created West Super League Premier Division but missed out on goal difference to Pollok Juniors.
Season 2005/06 was our most successful for 50 years as we finished Champions of the Stagecoach Super League 1st Division and won the Carlsberg Sectional League Cup against East Kilbride Thistle at Firhill Stadium to give the Club a well deserved Double.
2006/07 saw the club get to the quarter finals of the Scottish Junior Cup and finish 4th place in the Stagecoach Super League Premier Division.
Relegated at the end of 2008/09 from the Stagecoach Super League Premier the Farmers Boys then suffered back to back relegations from the Stagecoach Super First Division to the Central District First Division where they unfortunately failed to gain promotion from and will start the new 2011/12 season fighting for promotion and into the new SJFA League format for 2012/13 season!
